The Environmental Services employee is responsible for maintaining the building upkeep including housekeeping of the Administration building and the Care Center. They work independently within the department in coordinating duties, inspects and corrects areas requiring upkeep, responds to inquiries or requests, and takes an active part in the laundry operations as needed. ENVIRONMENTALSERVICES SUPERVISOR ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Completes duties independently and inspects work to maintain compliance towards the standards of cleanliness and sanitation Vacuums and spot cleans carpet Dusts all surface areas Dust mops and damp/wet mops all hard service floors Empties, cleans, and sanitizes waste receptacles in assigned areas Cleans and sanitizes restroom facilities as well as restock bathroom supplies as needed Cleans and strips down patient rooms after receiving discharge notification Prepares patient room for new admission, including restocking of linen and paper supplies Assists with Care Center laundry needs such as removal of soiled linens, washing and drying, unload clean linen carts, deliver linen supplies and stock linens Assists in keeping corridors clear of clutter, equipment, furniture, etc. for safety and aesthetic purposes Assists in establishing and maintaining an environment that is clean and conducive to patients, visitors, and staff members well-being and safety Performs duties while demonstrating knowledge of the health care cleaning and sanitizing principals and requirements, proper and safe chemical use, and equipment handling Adheres to all organizational safety, risk management, and environmental and infection control standards Identifies and reports building maintenance needs or repairs to immediate supervisor The above statements are only meant to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by the occupant of this job. This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities, but is required to orient employees as needed and will act as a mentor to staff and volunteers.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The position requires sitting and standing for long periods. The position is also exposed to infectious diseases and requires lifting regularly. It also requires bending, stooping, turning and twisting on a regular basis. They require the ability to operate a computer, phone and other office equipment as needed. Manual dexterity is also required to perform tasks including computer tasks.WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in a health care setting. The role requires walking to various areas of the building.EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a position in a hospice care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Scheduled regular, additional and holiday shifts as well as work during inclement weather will be required. TRAVEL This position does not include travel routinely, but may require travel as necessary.QUALIFICATIONS
At least 18 years of age High School diploma or GED At least 1 year of environmental services experience preferred Excellent people and communication skills Attention to detail, ability to follow written and verbal directions, and the ability to work with minimal supervision Ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach, and lift items weighing 50 pounds or moreSimilar jobs in Livonia, MI
