Job Description

Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Greenville is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Environmental Services Technician (EVS)/Housekeeper to join our team. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff throughout the hospital. Job Summary The Environmental Services Technician performs general cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitation duties throughout the facility while adhering to infection prevention and safety standards. This role is critical in supporting a therapeutic healthcare environment and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform routine and terminal cleaning of patient rooms, offices, treatment areas, restrooms, common areas, and other assigned spaces. Clean, disinfect, sanitize, and maintain all hospital areas according to established infection control procedures. Safely handle and store cleaning chemicals, equipment, and supplies. Maintain a safe environment by securing housekeeping supplies and equipment at all times. Follow all infection prevention, safety, and hospital protocols. Remove trash, soiled linens, and other waste materials according to policy. Replenish supplies in patient and staff areas as needed. Move furniture, equipment, and supplies throughout the facility as required. Respond promptly to cleaning requests and emergency housekeeping needs. Assist with maintaining a neat, orderly, and professional appearance throughout the hospital. Support hospital operations by assisting with weekend and holiday coverage when needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED preferred. Experience Previous housekeeping, environmental services, healthcare, or janitorial experience preferred. Experience in a hospital, behavioral health, or healthcare setting is a plus. Requirements Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required. Must be dependable and available to assist with weekend coverage and call-ins when necessary. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies. May be exposed to cleaning chemicals, dust, mist, fumes, and airborne particles. Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Work Environment Smoke-free workplace. Moderate to high noise levels at times. Exposure to cleaning products and environmental service equipment. Interaction with patients in a behavioral health setting while maintaining safety and professionalism.
