Job Description

Job Overview The Tool Room Attendant supports operations by managing, organizing, and maintaining all tools, supplies, and materials used in a heavy‑duty marine and crane maintenance environment. This role ensures technicians have the equipment they need and tools are accurately tracked, well‑maintained, and ready for use. Key Responsibilities Inventory Management — Maintain accurate inventory of tools, supplies, and materials. Conduct routine cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies. Issuing & Receiving — Issue tools and materials to technicians, log all transactions, and ensure proper return and accountability. Tool & Equipment Maintenance — Inspect, clean, and perform minor repairs on tools; coordinate major repairs or replacements. Material Stocking — Monitor stock levels of consumables and materials; prepare requisitions for replenishment. Record Keeping — Maintain digital and physical logs for tool usage, maintenance history, and material consumption. Tool Room Organization — Keep the tool room clean, secure, and organized to support efficient workflow. Safety Compliance — Ensure all tools and materials meet safety standards and support safe operations around heavy marine equipment and cranes. Proven experience in warehouse distribution, inventory management, or materials handling within a shipyard or industrial setting. Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles, logistics operations, procurement processes, and warehouse management systems (WMS). Proficiency in data analysis skills using SQL, Tableau, Power BI or similar analytics tools; experience with ERP systems such as SAP or AS400 is highly desirable. Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement process improvements based on data insights. Valid forklift certification with experience operating heavy lifting equipment safely. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under tight deadlines. Strong negotiation skills for sourcing supplies and managing supplier relationships effectively. Physical capability for heavy lifting tasks required in materials handling; comfortable working in a physically demanding environment. Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures, inventory control techniques, demand planning strategies, and 3PL (third-party logistics) operations is preferred. Preferred Skills Attention to Detail for accurate tracking and safe tool handling. Mechanical Aptitude to understand tool functions and perform minor repairs. Communication Skills to coordinate effectively with technicians and supervisors. Work Environment Heavy‑duty marine operations involving cranes, lifting equipment, and large mechanical systems. Frequent interaction with maintenance teams working on vessels, cranes, and marine support equipment. Requires standing, lifting, and handling tools and materials throughout the shift.
Pay:
