Compensation:
$17/hour Family Promise of Ontario County (FPOC) serves families in Ontario County, NY who are experiencing housing instability through multiple programs of care that include emergency shelter, eviction prevention, shelter diversion, and stabilization services. Our team works collaboratively using trauma-informed care best practices to maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment for every family we serve. We are committed to treating each guest with dignity, compassion, and respect through a strengths-based, family-centered approach that honors resilience and promotes stability. The Family Center Housekeeper plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, welcoming, and healthy environment for families residing at the Shill Family Center. This position is responsible for routine cleaning, sanitizing, laundry support, inventory assistance, and ensuring shared spaces remain organized and safe. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, pays close attention to detail, and understands the importance of creating a comfortable and dignified environment for families experiencing housing instability.
Duties Include:
Cleaning & Sanitation Clean and sanitize bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, offices, and common areas. Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect surfaces throughout the facility. Perform routine deep-cleaning projects as assigned. Ensure cleaning tasks are completed according to agency standards and schedules. Safely use and store cleaning supplies and equipment. Laundry & Linen Management Wash, dry, fold, and organize shelter linens, towels, and bedding. Monitor linen inventory and notify supervisors when supplies need replenishing. Prepare rooms with clean linens and supplies for incoming families. Facility Organization & Maintenance Support Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas, supply closets, and shared spaces. Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or facility issues to management promptly. Assist with room turnovers and preparing spaces between guest stays. Help maintain a welcoming and orderly environment throughout the facility. Inventory & Supply Assistance Monitor cleaning and household supply levels. Notify supervisors when inventory is low. Assist with stocking and organizing donated household items and facility supplies. Team Collaboration Communicate effectively with shelter staff regarding facility needs and priorities. Maintain professional and respectful interactions with guests, volunteers, and community partners. Support a trauma-informed and family-centered environment through all interactions.
Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to pass several background checks. Previous housekeeping, custodial, cleaning, or facility maintenance experience preferred. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and perform physical tasks including bending, standing, walking, and reaching throughout a shift. Ability to pass required background checks. Respect for confidentiality and professional boundaries. Compassion and sensitivity when working in an environment serving families experiencing crisis and housing instability. Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.

Contributes to a respectful, inclusive, and trauma-informed workplace culture. Is able to work in an alcohol and drug free environment. A 90-day probationary period applies to all new hires.

- $17/hr: Part-Time 20 Hours Weekly
