$65,000 About Us Motel Long Lake & Cottages is a family-owned lakefront property in the heart of the Adirondacks. Guests come here for the lake, the town of Long Lake, and easy access to the rest of the park. With a mix of cottages and motel rooms, a private beach, canoes and kayaks, and a small hands-on team, we offer a warm, personal guest experience. We're not a big resort or corporate hotel — we're an independent property where hospitality is personal and each team member plays an important role. Ownership is actively involved, and the right candidate will be supported as they grow into the role. We're looking for someone who takes pride in meaningful work and wants to be part of a small lakefront hospitality business with room to grow. The Role As Assistant Innkeeper / Housekeeping Lead , you'll be a core part of the guest experience and the daily rhythm of the property. This is a hands-on role that blends housekeeping leadership, guest readiness, property presentation, and team support. It's a great fit for someone who enjoys physical, tangible work, takes pride in clean and welcoming spaces, and likes being part of a small hospitality operation where what you do truly matters. Pre-Season Before opening, the focus is on getting the property ready for the season ahead.
Responsibilities include:
Deep cleaning cottages, motel rooms, and shared spaces Organizing supplies, linens, and storage areas Preparing units and common areas for guest arrivals Supporting seasonal setup and overall property readiness In Season Housekeeping & Room Readiness Clean and prepare cottages, motel rooms, and shared spaces Perform final checks to ensure units are clean, stocked, and guest-ready Maintain a consistent, welcoming presentation across the property Support laundry flow, linen organization, and restocking Guest Interaction & Hospitality Assist guests on property in a warm, professional way Help create a welcoming guest experience Answer basic questions and help direct guest needs as they come up Team Support & Operations Help guide and support seasonal housekeeping staff Communicate maintenance or property issues as they arise Support busy turnover days with calmness, urgency, and attention to detail Work closely with ownership to help keep the property running smoothly Off-Season / Winter During the winter, responsibilities include: Cleaning and maintaining winter cabins and interior spaces Deep cleaning and seasonal reset work Organizing supplies and storage Supporting light guest-service or operational tasks depending on the candidate Room to Grow This role comes with strong ownership support and is designed to grow over time. For the right person, there is room to take on broader innkeeper and operational responsibilities as systems continue to improve. Physical Requirements This role involves regular physical activity typical of hospitality housekeeping work.
Candidates should be comfortable with:
Standing and walking for extended periods Lifting and carrying items up to approximately 40-50 pounds , such as linens, cleaning supplies, and equipment Bending, kneeling, and reaching while cleaning rooms and bathrooms Pushing and pulling carts, bins, or laundry Moving between multiple cottages and motel rooms throughout the day Working both indoors and outdoors while moving between buildings The role requires the ability to maintain a steady work pace and support the team during busy turnover days. Schedule & Compensation This is a full-time, year-round position with a schedule that shifts with the rhythm of the property and the season. Schedule 40 hours per week 5 days per week 2 full days off each week Weekend availability is required during the busy season On regular work days, this role includes being on duty after hours as needed, typically 3-4 days per week After-hours responsibility is shared with ownership For the current season, ownership will remain actively involved and available for support, so this role is designed to feel manageable, well-supported, and sustainable.
Compensation & Benefits Salary:
$65,000 End-of-season performance bonus 4 weeks paid time off annually after one year 5 paid holidays per year Furnished on-site housing may be available at market rates for the right candidate We are also open to applicants without housing needs Living on site is not required, provided the candidate is reliably available for the needs of the role Location & Transportation Please note that a personal vehicle is required for this role . Public transportation in our area is essentially non-existent. Long Lake is remote, and the nearest grocery store, shops, and many outdoor adventure spots are 5-30 minutes away by car . The closest airport is about 2 hours away . Whether you live on site or nearby, having your own transportation is necessary to make living and working here practical.
