Job Description
The houseman supports the housekeeping department by maintaining cleanliness in public areas, assisting room attendants, delivering supplies, and ensuring guest areas meet hotel cleanliness and presentation standards. This position plays a key role in providing an exceptional guest experience by ensuring hotel facilities remain clean, organized, and well-stocked. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain cleanliness and appearance of hotel public areas, including: Lobby Hallways Elevators Stairwells Public restrooms Meeting rooms Employee areas Assist Room Attendants by: Delivering linens, towels, and guest supplies Removing soiled linens and trash Restocking housekeeping carts and storage closets Assisting with heavy lifting and furniture movement Set up and break down meeting rooms and banquet spaces as directed. Respond promptly to guest requests, including: Additional towels and linens Extra amenities Cribs, rollaway beds, and other guest items Collect and transport trash and recyclables throughout the property. Clean spills, stains, and other housekeeping issues promptly. Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and lost-and-found items according to hotel procedures. Maintain housekeeping storage areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition. Follow all hotel safety, sanitation, and security procedures. Support other departments as needed to ensure smooth hotel operations and guest satisfaction. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous housekeeping or hotel experience preferred but not required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness. Good communication and customer service skills. Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout the shift. Ability to safely operate housekeeping equipment and carts. Performance Expectations Maintain hotel cleanliness standards at all times. Respond to guest and team member requests promptly and professionally. Demonstrate reliability, teamwork, and a positive attitude. Contribute to guest satisfaction scores by ensuring public areas remain clean, welcoming, and well-maintained.
