Job Description

This position works 7 days on and 7 days off from 7 am to 7 pm.
Summary of Responsibilities:
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and comfortable environment for patients, residents, staff, and visitors in hospital and long-term care facility. This role involves cleaning patient and resident rooms, common areas, offices, and other facility spaces while following infection control and safety procedures.
Essential Duties and Repsonsibilities:
Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, dining areas, and common spaces. Dust, mop, sweep, vacuum, and polish floors and surfaces. Empty trash and dispose of waste according to facility procedures. Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, toilet tissue, and cleaning products. Clean windows, mirrors, furniture, and fixtures. Follow infection control policies and procedures to help prevent the spread of illness. Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, and damaged equipment to the appropriate department. Handle cleaning chemicals safely and according to manufacturer guidelines. Respond promptly to housekeeping requests. Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy and dignity of residents. Comply with all facility policies, safety regulations, and applicable health standards.
Qualifications/Standards:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT
None required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
Previous housekeeping, custodial, or healthcare cleaning experience preferred but not required.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIREMENT
Ability to read, write, and follow verbal instructions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Visual and auditory acuity are necessary. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time and be able to physically lift, push and pull a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
