Job Description

Performs responsible unskilled work in the care and cleaning of buildings, facilities and grounds; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.
Hours of Work:
3:00pm to 11:00pm, Monday through
Friday Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Cleaning and maintaining buildings and facilities and performing grounds maintenance work. Sweeps, mops, vacuums, etc. assigned areas; assists with stripping and waxing floors Removes trash from buildings and surrounding outside areas Cleans windows and glass doors; cleans carpeted areas Cleans floors, walls, lavatories, fixtures, toilets, etc. refills bathroom supplies Cleans up facilities after user groups and department activities. Performs grounds keeping duties as required Notifies staff of janitorial supply needs Locks and secures building; sets up and breaks down rooms for meetings Attends departmental meetings and safety meetings as required Assists in keeping parking garage and related entrances swept and clean Performs special projects as assigned. Performs light maintenance tasks; replace light bulbs, unplug sinks and commodes Assists in setup in meeting rooms Reports maintenance issues found in County buildings Ensures buildings and offices are secure at close of business. Serves as an afterhours, on-call, employee for the housekeeping of buildings and grounds. Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested by management. Meets attendance requirements and maintains the highest level of dependability. Ability to work independently Assists in all County Buildings as required Must be able to work with a team on daily and special assignments
Education/Experience:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. Demonstrated experience in housekeeping preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Some knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment and the ability to use them efficiently Ability to understand oral and written directions Ability to read and write Physical ability to perform manual work Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and the general public. Some knowledge of tools and equipment utilized in housekeeping programs.
Certifications/Licenses:
Must possess a valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver's license, proof of insurance required to drive on county business, and acceptable driving record.

This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects Work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels Visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, peripheral vision, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arm's length Operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.
Environmental Factors :
The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, dust, noise, vibration, hazards, and atmospheric conditions. The worker may be exposed to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
Special/Additional Requirements:
