Works as an integral member of the team to assist in transporting specimens, blood, and equipment. What you will do Ensures proper supplies are stocked in all coves and operating rooms. Assists with room turnover, trash removal, patient transport, disposal of regulated waste, wiping all surfaces with appropriate cleaner, moping, dusting, replacing linen and moving unneeded equipment. Assists with obtaining supplies, specimens, and blood products requested and following appropriate procedure for transporting supplies. Demonstrates the ability to effectively collaborate and consult with charge nurse and other members of the surgical and operating room team members. Takes ownership in new employee/student/co-worker on-boarding to enhance retention and reduced turnover of staff as evidenced by vacancy rates. Maintains working knowledge of National Patient Safety Goals, to include patient identifiers and HIPPA. Safely transports patients using knowledge of Infection Control policies, proper body mechanics, and use of patient identifiers. Supports personal departmental productivity through volunteering for and recommending creative changes to include flexing and shift changes to meet the needs of the department.
