Job Overview :
The Housekeeper is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of assigned areas. This includes performing cleaning, laundry, and maintenance tasks, as well as ensuring that the environment is well-maintained, safe, and pleasant for all residents and family members.
Key Responsibilities :
Cleaning Tasks :
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust all areas of the facility. Clean and sanitize bathrooms, kitchens, living areas, and bedrooms. Change bed linens and make beds. Wash windows and mirrors as required. Clean floors, carpets, rugs, and furniture.
Laundry and Linen Management :
Wash, dry, fold, and iron laundry as needed. Ensure that all linens (sheets, towels, etc.) are cleaned and replaced. Sort and organize laundry and linens for efficient storage.
Organization :
Ensure rooms, hallways, and common areas are organized and well-presented. Replenish supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and cleaning materials as needed.
Waste Management :
Empty trash cans and dispose of waste appropriately. Recycle items as necessary.
Safety and Maintenance :
Ensure all cleaning products and tools are used safely and in accordance with guidelines. Report any maintenance issues (broken equipment, plumbing issues, etc.) to the appropriate personnel. Guest/Resident Interaction (if applicable) : Greet guests and residents, ensuring their comfort and needs are met. Respond to any special requests regarding cleaning or services. Maintain a high standard of professionalism and courtesy when interacting with others.
Qualifications :
Experience :
Previous housekeeping experience preferred, but not required.
Skills :
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong communication skills. Physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive tasks. Familiarity with cleaning tools, equipment, and products.
Education :
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Work Environment :
Long term care facility May require standing, bending, lifting, and carrying cleaning equipment. Must be comfortable working with cleaning chemicals and equipment.
