  • 8:00 PM About the Role The ideal candidate is available for part-time weekend and holiday work and is looking for a meaningful way to contribute to the community.
Whether you're a retiree wanting to stay active, a student with weekend availability, or someone seeking supplemental income with purpose, this role might be the perfect fit. We're hiring Weekend Shelter Staff to help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for families experiencing homelessness. Shifts are assigned monthly and often involve a mix of light cleaning, basic meal support, and monitoring safety. You'll be a calm, supportive presence for families staying in our shelter — no social work experience needed, just compassion and reliability. Key Responsibilities Greet and communicate with shelter guests in a respectful, trauma-informed manner Clean shared spaces (kitchen, bathrooms, lounges, hallways) Conduct room checks to ensure guest safety and cleanliness Support meal prep and dinner service when needed (especially if volunteers are unavailable) Document shift notes, incident reports, and safety checks accurately Assist with maintaining shelter inventory and noting when supplies are low Able to adapt when things change — sometimes tasks vary from shift to shift Report guest or facility concerns to the director or manager of shelter operations Flexibly pivoted as needed to meet shelter needs in real time What We're Looking For Must be 18 years or older Available to work weekend shifts; schedules are created monthly Dependable, punctual, and able to follow through without constant supervision Comfortable working in a shelter setting with families from diverse backgrounds Calm under pressure; strong communication and basic conflict de-escalation skills Willing to take on basic housekeeping, food service, and shift documentation tasks Able to adapt when things change — sometimes tasks vary from shift to shift
Bonus If You Have:
Experience in a shelter, group home, or social services setting First Aid/CPR certification Lived experience with housing instability or similar challenges Why Join Us?
