Additionally, this individual is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and efficient work area.
Pay range:
$18.50 - $19.00 Santa Monica Seafood, as an 80-year-old privately owned company, is the largest specialty wholesale distribution and processor of fresh and frozen seafood in the Southwestern U.S. with over 200,000 SF of facilities in 12 locations In California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas. Santa Monica Seafood is also well known locally for its two retail stores and cafes in Santa Monica and Costa Mesa. FSSC 22000
certification for food safety management systems, ISO 14001 certification for environmental management programs, and BAP certification of its main processing facility.
Schedule:
6:00am - 2:00pm (Monday through Friday) Pay rate: $18.50 per hour to start, with a $0.50 per hour wage increase upon successful completion of the 90-day introductory period.
Primary Function:
Reporting to the Case Ready department Supervisor and leads, packers are responsible for the processing of the highest quality fresh fish to fulfill customer orders. Additionally, this individual is responsible in maintaining the speed of their assigned production line, with the assistance of a lead and the line's machine operator.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and organize the work area before the start of production. Gather and stage all required packaging materials, supplies, and tools. Package seafood products accurately and efficiently while meeting established production and quality standards. Place fish fillets, portions, and other seafood products onto conveyors and processing equipment as directed. Pack finished products into shipping cases according to specifications. Follow all written procedures, work instructions, and verbal directions from supervisors and machine operators. Work effectively as part of a team to achieve daily production, quality, and safety goals. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment in accordance with food safety and GMP requirements. Support continuous product flow by maintaining line speed, changing packaging film when needed, and ensuring raw materials are readily available. Learn to identify and differentiate seafood species, product types, and specifications. Perform assigned tasks under the direction of the line machine operator and work collaboratively with the production team to maximize efficiency and product quality.
Cleaning and Sanitizing:
Tables, sinks, cutting boards, drains, curtains, floors, scales, and all other equipment related to the department and operations Employee will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned. Hand and finger movement is required frequently to pack product and label boxes.
Performance Measurement:
This function is part of the production team, which is measured as a group. The basis of measurement is per pounds.
Work Environment:
Work performed in a cold environment (35 - 42 degrees) Standing for long hours
