Job Summary The Aquaculture Technician II is responsible for performing all aspects of hatchery operation including husbandry of brood stock and fry, reproduction, live food culture, daily maintenance of the fish holding facilities, data collection, and assisting with new line development. This role executes the strategy developed by the Commercialization manager. Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesPrimary Duties and Responsibilities 40% Responsible for all facets of Hatchery operations. Must understand and demonstrate safe work practices at all times to ensure a safe and biosecure work environment. Create and maintain a positive environment for all employees free of intimidation and harassment. Partner with Commercialization Manager to develop limited production runs of new fish and develop plans to improve both quality and yield of production lines. Establish or adjust work procedures to ensure hatchery schedules are met. Contribute to the accomplishment of Key Performance Indicators including safety, quality, production, cost, and development. Provide ongoing feedback related to performance for Hatchery employees. Effectively communicate with other teams to ensure coordination of activities of each department. Comply with all company policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Fish Husbandry Duties 25% Responsible for the care of numerous groups and species of tropical aquarium fish. Maintain optimum water quality conditions, feeding high quality diets, maintaining aquaria/vats, and general upkeep of the fish holding facility Responsible for the care of fish embryos and fry which requires gentle handling and great attention to detail Collect and maintain stocking/harvesting dates, growth, age and size class information and species Work with Commercialization Manager on the development of new fish production practices and protocols Fish breeding 25% Manage and oversee the breeding of tropical aquarium fish Maintain healthy/conditioned brood stock Guide team to maintain multiple lines of fish to include setting up and breaking down spawning tanks and mixing hatching water Hatchery Maintenance 10% Responsible for the maintenance of all fish holding areas to include water exchanges, siphoning tanks, keeping nets and siphon hoses sanitized and ready for use and cleaning floors and tanks. Education and Experience Profile Bachelor's Degree Required (experience can be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree) Minimum 2 years aquaculture experience required Experience maintaining recirculating systems preferred Must be able to work in extremely hot and humid conditions Must be able to lift up to ...For full information see follow application link.
