FBC Public Benefit To promote sustainable food systems and raise awareness of the challenges in our supply chain It is the responsibility of all French Broad Chocolates employees to work in the best interest of the team, community and environment, and in support of FBC's Mission, Values and Public Benefit Job Purpose Chocolatiers create consistent, high-quality, technically excellent confections and treats while maintaining a high degree of productivity. Responsibilities Participate in the daily production of artisan chocolates, confections, and specialty treats Operate and maintain chocolate production equipment, including machinery used to create chocolate shells Prepare large-batch recipes using kettles (up to 120 lbs) for caramels, ganaches, and related fillings Attend daily, in-person production meetings to review accomplishments, production goals, and food safety priorities Follow batch production records to execute recipes accurately and consistently, ensuring quality standards and minimizing waste Demonstrate strong technical skills and attention to detail in all production tasks Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Comply with all food safety, sanitation, and occupational safety policies and procedures Perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications Minimum of one year of combined education and/or hands-on experience in pastry and/or confectionery production Experience operating production or manufacturing equipment preferred Culinary degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience (approximately four years) Positive, team-oriented attitude with a demonstrated willingness to collaborate Self-motivated and able to thrive in an environment focused on continuous improvement and excellence Strong attention to detail over extended periods of time Effective time management skills with the ability to stay focused and on task Open-minded and adaptable; comfortable working in a dynamic, evolving environment Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to give and receive ongoing feedback Proficient reading and writing skills; experience completing batch production records is a plus Demonstrated alignment with FBC's mission, vision, and values Working Conditions Evening and weekend availability as needed; schedules are generally fixed and typically conclude by 5:00 PM Primarily indoor work with exposure to varying temperature conditions Work performed in a GMP-regulated facility requiring strict adherence to food safety protocols and procedures Frequent, repetitive use of production machinery Fast-paced, noisy work environment; hearing protection provided Physical Requirements Standing for extended periods Solo lift 50 lb. regularly Team lift 70 lb. occasionally Repetitive tasks with infrequent rest periods French Broad Chocolate is an equal opportunity employer, and is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in our employment practices.
