Production Line Processor in
Thomasville, PA Pay:
$20.35/hour
Shift:
2nd Shift 2pm-Finish Job Description This role focuses on safely and efficiently monitoring an automated potato chip frying line, ensuring product quality, and maintaining a clean and sanitary production area. You will mix chips during the cooking process, remove defective product, perform visual quality checks, and complete thorough cleaning at the end of each shift. Responsibilities Monitor the automated potato chip frying process and ensure chips cook according to established standards. Use a rake-like tool to gently mix chips during cooking to promote even frying and prevent clumping. Identify and remove defective potatoes or chips from the production flow to maintain product quality. Conduct spot checks on finished product, including seals, weight, code dates, and overall appearance. Inspect finished potato chips for quality, consistency, and visual defects throughout the shift. Clean machines, conveyors, chip bins, walls, and floors as needed and at the end of each shift. Recognize problems with equipment, product, or packaging and immediately report them to management. Follow all production, sanitation, and safety procedures in compliance with company guidelines and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Maintain accurate awareness of the production schedule and adjust work pace to meet production demands. Work cooperatively with other employees on the production line to ensure smooth operations. Perform duties with minimal direct supervision while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Essential Skills High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three to six months of related experience and/or training in production, manufacturing, or a similar environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with production and sanitation tasks in a manufacturing or food processing setting. Ability to effectively communicate with other employees. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and documents such as rules and procedures. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using basic math skills. Strong hand-eye coordination to safely handle tools and interact with production equipment. Ability to perform duties without direct supervision while maintaining productivity and quality. Ability to create and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers. Ability to read and write to follow written instructions and documentation. Willingness and ability to work Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. until finish and regularly work on Saturdays. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience in food production, snack manufacturing, or similar high-volume production environments is beneficial. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and basic food safety standards. Comfort working with automated production equipment and performing routine visual inspections. Strong attention to detail for identifying defects and monitoring product quality. Reliability and punctuality for consistent attendance on scheduled shifts. Ability to follow detailed sanitation and hygiene requirements, including restrictions on jewelry and grooming. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a food production facility focused on potato chip manufacturing. The schedule typically runs Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. until production is finished, with Saturday work required; Saturday shifts typically start around noon and usually end by 8:00 p.m. You will receive two 20-minute breaks during your shift. The facility is not climate controlled, so the environment can become hot during the summer due to the production process and fryers. You will work around automated slicing and frying equipment, conveyors, and chip bins, and you will regularly use cleaning tools and supplies as part of sanitation duties. The dress code requires closed-toe shoes and long work pants. The company provides hair nets, safety glasses, and gloves. You must follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), including no jewelry except a wedding band, no fake nails, no nail polish, and no glitter on clothing, to maintain a safe and hygienic production environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Thomasville, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.35 - $20.35/hr.
