Job Description
After Chicago is a cocktail bar in Fulton Market from two-Michelin-starred Chef Curtis Duffy and the team behind Ever Restaurant. We are known for our ingredient-driven cocktails, curated non-alcoholic offerings, and vibrant late-night energy. Our team is dedicated to precision, creativity, and genuine hospitality in every guest experience. The Prep lead/runner is a vital member of our team, ensuring the bar and service floor run seamlessly by supporting both prep and front-of-house duties. This full-time position involves doing prep on Tues & Thursday from 10am-6pm. And being a runner on Friday & Saturday from 4:00pm-12am. This role requires adaptability, strong attention to detail, and a natural sense of urgency.
Note:
While this position is designed as a hybrid role, we are also open to hiring the right candidate for a prep-only position . Key Responsibilities Prep Duties Assist with ingredient preparation, including cleaning, chopping, juicing, batching, and labeling. Follow recipes and specifications to ensure consistency and accuracy. Prepare garnishes, syrups, and other mise en place for the bar. Maintain prep areas, tools, and equipment in pristine condition. Uphold all safety, sanitation, and cleanliness protocols. Runner Duties Deliver cocktails, spirits, and food items promptly and accurately to guests. Act as a communication link between the bar, kitchen, and floor team. Assist with table maintenance, including clearing, resetting, and preparing for the next guests. Support the floor team during peak hours to ensure smooth service. Anticipate guest needs and contribute to an energetic, polished atmosphere. Requirements 1 or more years' experience in hospitality (runner, prep cook, barback, or related role preferred). Ability to work in a fast-paced, chef- and bartender-driven environment. High attention to detail and ability to multitask. Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude. Composure and focus in high-energy situations. Physical Requirements Must be able to work on your feet for at least 8 hours. Must be able to move, pull, or lift at least 35 pounds. Schedule & Location Located in the West Loop. Evening, late-night, and weekend availability required. Compensation & Benefits Hourly (based on experience) plus eligible service charge/tip share.
