First-Line Supervisor of Receiving/Processing (Multiple Openings)

JOB DUTIES
Responsible for serving as the first-line supervisor of activities of workers engaged in receiving, weighing, inspecting, vaccinating, processing, and transferring livestock.
Specific duties include:
(1) supervising receivers and processors in accordance with company policies and applicable laws; (2) modeling safe work practices, communicating safety information to employees by conducting regular safety training, and monitoring workplace for unsafe behavior; (3) observing livestock handling and issuing instructions to minimize stress on livestock during transfer to ensure that no animal leaves the facility without meeting applicable withdrawals and proper recordkeeping; (4) communicating available pen space to management or order buyers and communicating with buyers to coordinate receipt of cattle; (5) inspecting incoming loads of cattle for miscounts, sick animals, or other inconsistencies, checking cattle, and recording information; (6) ensuring cattle are fed and watered in a timely manner and planning pen movements; (7) sorting cattle as needed and alerting management to high risk cattle; (8) overseeing processing and revaccination of incoming cattle; (9) managing medicine inventories; (10) managing department activities to ensure adherence to applicable USDA, FDA, state and federal laws, and company policies.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
B.S. degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, or related; one year of animal husbandry experience; and knowledge of cattle breeds and characteristics.
