Lead Caramel Maker $22.00-$26.00 per hour Full-time | Monday-Friday | Approximately 8:00am-4:30pm | South Barre, VT Butterfly Bakery of Vermont is looking for a Caramel Production Manager to lead the production of Fat Toad Farm's traditional goat's milk caramel. This is a hands-on production role for someone who takes pride in making exceptional food. You'll spend much of your time standing over copper kettles transforming fresh goat's milk from Vermont farms into rich, award-winning caramel using traditional methods. When caramel demand is lighter, you'll jump in with our hot sauce team making the farm-to-fork products that have been featured on Hot Ones and recognized by Food & Wine. We're looking for someone who cares about quality, pays attention to details, asks good questions, and understands that great food comes from consistency and craftsmanship. What You'll Do Caramel Production Produce Fat Toad Farm traditional goat's milk caramel Follow recipes and production procedures with precision Monitor cooking processes and maintain detailed batch records Coordinate caramel bottling and packaging with production teammates Maintain clean, organized, food-safe workspaces Farm & Ingredient Logistics Sometimes pick up goat's milk from partner farms using a company vehicle Maintain accurate ingredient and production records Help ensure the quality and traceability of ingredients Hot Sauce & Specialty Foods Production Assist with production of our award-winning hot sauces and mustards Help with bottling, prepping, cooking, and general production tasks Rotate duties based on seasonal production needs What We're Looking For Prior experience in candy making, baking, commercial kitchen work, or food manufacturing required Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to stand for extended periods and work around hot kettles Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs Clean driving record Strong communication and teamwork skills Reliable attendance and punctuality Willingness to learn and support other production areas when needed The Kind of Person Who Thrives Here Takes pride in making things well Cares about the success of the whole team Asks questions when unsure Owns mistakes and learns from them Shows up ready to work Understands that consistency matters Schedule & Compensation Full-time, year-round employment Monday-Friday, approximately 8:00am-4:30pm Some adjustment in start and end times based on production needs $22.00-$26.00 per hour, depending on experience Paid time off Employee discount Dairy handling training and certification provided Who We Are Butterfly Bakery of Vermont and Fat Toad Farm make specialty foods rooted in Vermont agriculture.
