Job Description

Job Title:
General Utility Worker Job Description This role supports a refrigerated food production facility by rotating through sanitation/pack-off, packing, palletizing, and box making areas. You help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient production line by handling materials, inspecting products, and preparing equipment for operation and sanitation. Responsibilities Rotate between sanitation/pack-off, packing, palletizing, and box making areas based on production needs. Dispose of extra materials that will not be used in production in a safe and organized manner. Break down and dispose of incoming packages and labels, ensuring proper handling and separation of materials. Separate waste into appropriate streams, including general trash, cardboard, and plastic, following facility guidelines. Spray machines and containers with disinfectant to support sanitation and food safety standards. Assist with preparing machine start-ups and support disassembly of machines for sanitation procedures. Place bags of finished goods into boxes accurately and efficiently. Visually inspect finished goods for defects to ensure quality standards are met. Complete required paperwork accurately, including production, inspection, or sanitation records. Visually inspect cases to ensure proper sealing and labeling before palletizing. Operate a pallet jack safely to move finished pallets within the facility. Assemble and disassemble machinery as needed for sanitation and cleaning. Document findings related to inspections, equipment, or product quality as required. Palletize finished boxes, repeatedly lifting and stacking up to 50 pounds. Maintain an adequate supply of boxes and labels for the production lines to prevent downtime. Ensure labeling matches the specification sheet and confirm boxes are free from damage. Document the movement of finished goods and raw materials for traceability and inventory control. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and all safety protocols while working on the production floor. Work collaboratively with team members and communicate any issues related to quality, safety, or equipment. Essential Skills Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds continuously throughout a 10-hour shift. Ability to read, write, and speak English to follow instructions, complete paperwork, and communicate with the team. At least 1 year of work history in any field, demonstrating reliability and consistent attendance. Comfort working in a refrigerated environment with temperatures around 30-40 degrees. Willingness to rotate among sanitation, packing, palletizing, and box making tasks as needed. Basic understanding of production, general production, packaging, and inspection activities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a food production or GMP environment is beneficial. Familiarity with operating pallet jacks or similar material-handling equipment is an advantage. Previous experience with quality inspection or visual defect checks is helpful. Comfort working with machinery, including assisting with start-up, assembly, and disassembly for sanitation. Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions and maintain accurate documentation. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is on 1st shift, working approximately 5:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, with most Saturdays included. You can expect to work more than 50 hours per week, with a cap of 60 hours, and any hours over 8 in a single shift are paid as overtime. The facility operates under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a refrigerated food production environment, with production floor temperatures typically between 30 and 40 degrees. You will wear an overcoat, gloves, hard hat, ear plugs, safety glasses, and knee-high non-slip rubber boots as standard attire to support safety and sanitation. The work involves standing for long periods, frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, and regular interaction with production machinery and packaging equipment in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pleasant Prairie, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.
