Job Title:
General Utility Worker Aerotek is hiring now for their best clients in the market. Grab this opportunity to work with one of our client for a General Utility Worker position with pay range started from $16/HR where you will get the room to grow and make your perfect career Job Description The General Utility Worker supports multiple areas of a refrigerated food production facility by rotating through sanitation/pack-off, packing, palletizing, and box making. This role helps keep production running smoothly by maintaining cleanliness, preparing and packaging finished goods, handling materials, and documenting product movement and quality. You will work in a fast-paced environment that requires attention to detail, safe lifting practices, and adherence to food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Responsibilities Rotate through four primary areas: sanitation/pack-off, packing, palletizing, and box making, based on production needs. Perform sanitation and pack-off duties, including disposing of extra materials that will not be used. Break down and dispose of incoming packages and labels according to facility procedures. Separate waste into appropriate streams, including trash, cardboard, and plastic, to support proper disposal and recycling. Spray machines and containers with disinfectant in accordance with sanitation and food safety guidelines. Assist with preparing machine start-ups and disassembling machines for sanitation in the packing area. Place bags of finished goods into boxes quickly and accurately. Visually inspect finished goods for defects and remove any nonconforming products from the line. Complete required paperwork and documentation for production, quality, and sanitation activities. Visually inspect cases to ensure proper sealing and labeling before palletizing. Operate a pallet jack safely to move finished pallets within the facility. Assemble and disassemble machinery as needed for sanitation in the palletizing area. Document all findings related to product quality, equipment condition, and sanitation checks. Palletize finished boxes, repeatedly lifting and stacking boxes weighing up to 50 lbs. Maintain an adequate supply of boxes and labels for the production lines in the box making area. Verify that labeling matches the specification sheet and ensure boxes are free from damage before use. Document the movement of finished and raw materials to maintain accurate inventory and traceability. Palletize finished boxes in the box making area, lifting up to 50 lbs throughout the shift. Follow all GMP and food safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Work safely and efficiently in a refrigerated environment while meeting production, quality, and sanitation standards. Support general production, packaging, and inspection tasks as assigned by leadership. Essential Skills Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs continuously throughout a 10-hour shift. Ability to work 10-hour shifts and up to 50+ hours per week, with a maximum of 60 hours per week as needed. Ability to read, write, and speak English to follow instructions and complete documentation. At least 1 year of work history in any field demonstrating reliability and consistency. Capability to work in a refrigerated environment at approximately 30-40 degrees Fahrenheit. Comfort performing repetitive tasks such as packaging, palletizing, and material handling. Attention to detail for visual inspection of finished goods, labels, and boxes. Basic production and general production skills in a fast-paced environment. Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and sanitation procedures. Willingness to wear required PPE, including overcoat, gloves, hardhat, ear plugs, safety glasses, and knee-high non-slip rubber boots. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in production, general production, or manufacturing environments. Experience in packaging or inspection within a food production setting. Familiarity with operating a pallet jack to move pallets safely. Experience working in a GMP food production environment. Comfort with assembling and disassembling basic machinery for sanitation. Ability to complete production and quality paperwork accurately and legibly. Strong work ethic and reliability in high-volume, time-sensitive operations. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a GMP food production facility operating on a 1st shift schedule from 5:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, with most Saturdays required. Team members typically work more than 50 hours per week, with a maximum of 60 hours, and receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 8 in a single shift. The production floor is fully refrigerated, maintained at approximately 30-40 degrees Fahrenheit, and involves work around food processing and packaging equipment similar to sausage patty production. Employees work on and around production lines, palletizing stations, and sanitation areas and use equipment such as pallet jacks and basic machinery that must be assembled and disassembled for cleaning. This is a physically demanding environment that requires continuous lifting of up to 50 lbs, repetitive movements, and standing or walking for most of the shift. Good Manufacturing Practices are strictly enforced, and employees must wear an overcoat, gloves, hardhat, ear plugs, safety glasses, and knee-high non-slip rubber boots at all times on the production floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pleasant Prairie, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
