Bus Driver / Overnight Attendant Christian Service Center for the Homeless - Orlando, FL

Overnight | 12-hour and 8-hour shifts | Includes weekends & holidays About Us The Christian Service Center has served Central Florida since 1971, dedicated to ending homelessness through housing-first, compassionate services. In 2024, we helped over 1,200 people find safety and stability. Be part of our innovative Bus shelter program—providing overnight shelter with dignity and care. This program operates 24/7, including weekends and holidays. Flexibility and reliability are essential.

Thursday-Sunday | 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM Job Overview This position blends basic vehicle operations with on-site overnight guest support. Attendants pick up the Dignity Bus from its parking lot, drive it to the designated overnight location, check in guests, maintain a secure and calm environment, and return the bus in the morning. Key Responsibilities Evening (
Start:
7:00 PM): Pick up bus, conduct safety check Drive to overnight site and set up (power, lighting, etc.) Check in guests, assign beds, explain program rules Monitor guests and ensure safety, comfort, and compliance Maintain quiet hours starting at 9:30 PM Morning (
End:
7:00 AM): Wake guests and supervise departure by 6:45 AM Collect and store linens Return bus to lot, complete post-shift inspection Submit logs and incident reports
Other Duties:
Monitor generator, fuel, lighting, and HVAC systems Report maintenance issues Keep bus interior clean and organized Use cameras and logs to monitor guest behavior and safety This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Duties may change as needed. Qualifications 2+ years experience driving large vehicles (vans, box trucks, shuttles, or buses) Clean driving record Ability to pass drug test and background check Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, assist in emergencies Strong communication and problem-solving skills CDL preferred but not required Preferred Traits Calm under pressure Good judgment and boundary-setting Experience working with vulnerable populations Security or mechanical experience a plus Basic computer literacy (for logs and reports) Compensation & Benefits $18.00-$20.00/hour based on experience Health insurance (Full-Time only) Paid time off Retirement plan Training Provided CPR and First Aid De-escalation and crisis response Emergency protocols Shelter operations and safety procedures Christian Service Center is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
