Job Description

JOB TITLE
GO! Transportation Chaperone
GENERAL INFORMATION
This position provides personalized coordination and individualized support for youth riders, their parents/guardians, and participating nonprofit organizations while riding along on the GO! bus. This is a part-time position with anticipated weekly hours that will range from 15 to 28 hours, depending on ride schedules. This position will work closely with the GO! Transportation Executive Director. The successful candidate can expect to play an active role in GO! Transportation and help to shape the vision for the future of the organization. The GO! Chaperone is responsible for supporting youth and nonprofit organizations by chaperoning riders of the GO!
Bus to:
  • set the tone for a transportation experience where all youth riding is safe, respected, valued and appreciated;
  • introduce youth riders to the driver and the pick-up/drop-off process;
  • acclimate the driver to approved drop-off locations and procedures;
  • assist the driver, as they get to know the youth, to guarantee that only the youth approved by participating organizations, board the bus;
  • Assist the driver by communicating with youth, parents/guardians, and organizations while en route using the provided app device (training provided);
  • Introduce youth from each participating organization to others on the bus and help them navigate peer relationships, as youth from different organizations may be riding the bus at the same time.
The GO! Transportation Chaperone regularly interacts with youth, volunteers, and community members. The majority of work hours will take place while on the GO! bus chaperoning youth. Employment requires approval of the child protection screening process.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
  • Highly organized, independent, flexible, people person who enjoys working with people of all ages.
  • Natural, empathetic communicator with the ability to handle personal information with discretion.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Demonstrated experience working with youth and/or people of various backgrounds.
  • Mobility to accomplish position requirements.
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Imaginative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use an iPad and digital applications.
COMPENSATION
  • Hourly position, $15-20/hour, commensurate with experience.
  • Flexible schedule.
