BUS MONITOR
•GENERAL
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School diploma or equivalent. 2. Must meet Physical Performance Requirements. 3. Such additional qualifications as the Superintendent or Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL
To assist bus driver in ensuring the safe transportation of children.
BASIC FUNCTION
Assist school bus driver in maintaining discipline while bus is in operation; maintain proper records and documentation; assist student loading, unloading, and seating arrangements as required.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assists children on and off the bus and escorts children across street upon return home; lifts children as required; assures responsible adults meet students leaving the bus. 2. Assists parent and school personnel with safe loading and unloading of students; coordinates seating of students as required by State Transportation Guidelines. 3. Consults with and assists bus driver in documentation of student information, record keeping, and other required documentation. 4. Attends meetings and training courses as assigned. 5. Monitors and assists students while the bus is in operation; and communicates with classroom assistants, teachers, principals, and parents concerning students background, medical problems, and behavior while under supervision on the bus. 6. Provides and performs student health services as directed by Supervisor after receiving appropriate training as required by law. 7. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Transportation or Superintendent.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull light objects up to 25 lbs. 2. Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations 3. Must be able to meet and maintain all requirements and certifications 4. Work is performed while standing, sitting, and/or walking 5. Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, written language, and hearing. •

BASIC FUNCTION
Ride a school bus for exceptional children and assist school bus driver in maintaining discipline while bus is in operation; operate mechanical lift.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists exceptional children on and off the bus and escorts children across street upon return home; lifts children as required; assures responsible adults meet students leaving the bus. Operates equipment, including wheelchairs, tie-downs, seat belts, harnesses, mechanical lift, and other adaptive equipment as necessary. Assists driver in assuring seat belts, harnesses, and wheel chair clamps are secured as required. Assists parent and school personnel with safe loading and unloading of students; coordinates seating of exceptional students as required by State Transportation Guidelines. Coordinates communication between field drivers' monitor office and mechanical staff. Consults with and assists bus driver in documentation of student information, record keeping, and completing route surveys. Attends meetings and training courses as assigned. Monitors and assists students while bus is in operation; and communicates with classroom aides, teachers, Principals, and parents concerning students background, medical problems, and behavior while under supervision on the bus. Provides and performs student health services as directed by Supervisor after receiving appropriate training as required by law. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Transportation or Superintendent.
