Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Bus Monitors to ensure the safety and well-being of students during their transportation to and from school. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, particularly in a classroom or special education setting, and possess strong communication and conflict management skills. This role is crucial in maintaining a positive environment on the bus, supporting students in their daily routines, and addressing any behavioral issues that may arise. This is a school year position. Responsibilities Supervise students during bus rides to ensure their safety and adherence to behavior expectations. Assist students in boarding and alighting the bus safely. Communicate effectively with students to educate them on appropriate bus behavior and conflict resolution. Manage any conflicts or behavioral issues that may occur, employing effective behavior management techniques. Securing students safely in seat belts and safety vests. Collaborate with bus drivers and school staff to report any incidents or concerns regarding student behavior or safety. Foster a supportive environment for all students, particularly those with special needs or requiring additional assistance. Requirements Previous experience working with children in a classroom, childcare, or special education setting is preferred. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff. Knowledge of behavior management strategies to address various student needs. Ability to educate students on appropriate conduct while promoting a positive atmosphere on the bus. First aid certification is a plus; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held. Attend inservice training. Experience in conflict management to resolve issues calmly and effectively. A genuine passion for working with children and fostering their growth in a safe environment. This position plays an essential role in ensuring that our students have a safe and enjoyable transportation experience while promoting positive behaviors throughout their journey.
