Today Job Description MSAD 6 is currently seeking Bus Monitors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned:
  • Maintain a daily schedule determined by bus times or as defined by immediate supervisor.
  • Assist bus driver with assuring student safety.
  • Attend to a student's physical needs while student is being transported, as prescribed by the student's I.E.P. The Bus Monitor may:
  • Be assigned additional duties as they arise to assure student safety.
  • Be asked to accompany students on additional trips when requested.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must have a valid CHRC (Criminal History Records Check) through the Maine Department of Education. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
  • Be at least 17 years old.
  • Participate in an introductory orientation through the Special Education and Transportation Departments.
  • Participate in ongoing, relevant in-service training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before administrators and staff.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
