Terminal Operations Manager - School Bus Company Metropolitan Transportation Network, Inc. - 2.9 Fridley, MN Job Details Full-time $100,000 - $115,000 a year 18 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Life insurance Qualifications Operations management Customer service Fleet management Dispatching Hiring Full Job Description Position Summary The Terminal Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the Minneapolis transportation terminal, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant functioning across multiple departments. This role provides direct leadership to terminal staff and coordinates activities between shop, transportation, dispatch, mechanics, and support functions. The position reports directly to the Director of Transportation and provides regular operational updates to both the Director of Transportation and Director of Operations. Key Responsibilities Terminal Leadership & Oversight Oversee all operations of the Minneapolis terminal, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance Supervise multiple departments including: Shop operations Transportation Dispatch Mechanics Lot attendants Manage and support direct reports across all terminal functions Address operational issues including lot attendant concerns and bus-related issues in a timely manner Payroll & Administrative Oversight Review and approve payroll timesheets and payroll reports Monitor payroll accuracy and compliance Assess overtime usage and ensure proper authorization and control Ensure staffing levels align with operational needs across departments Employee Relations & Staffing
  • Handle employee relations matters in coordination with Human Resources
  • Work closely with HR to address employee concerns, investigations, and workplace issues
  • Support hiring, staffing, and scheduling needs across terminal departments
  • Monitor workforce performance and address issues as they arise
  • Coordinate with department managers to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Department Coordination & Reporting Check in regularly with Shop Manager and Transportation Manager to assess operational status Provide structured daily briefings Communicate operational challenges, risks, and successes clearly and consistently Provide shop updates and transportation status reports as needed Technology & Systems Oversight Receive and review reports from fleet tracking and transportation software systems Identify and report system or operational challenges to Director of Transportation Support use of technology to improve efficiency and accountability across terminal operations Operational Performance Ensure smooth daily terminal operations across all functional areas Continuously assess and improve efficiency, safety, and service delivery Respond to unexpected operational issues and adjust priorities as needed Perform other duties as assigned to support terminal success Qualifications Terminal management experience required within the School Bus Industry Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong customer service ability Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) Familiarity with scheduling, routing, or fleet management systems preferred Working knowledge of DOT regulations and school bus transportation operations is a plus Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, or other operationally required hours
