School Bus Aide BelovED Community & Empowerment Academy Charter Schools - 3.5 Jersey City, NJ Job Details Part-time 4 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Qualifications Confidential information handling Assistive devices Mobile devices Full Job Description School Bus Aide P osition Summary The Bus Aide supports the safe transportation of students by assisting the bus driver in maintaining a safe, orderly, and positive environment during transportation to and from school and school-related activities. The Bus Aide assists students during loading and unloading, supports student supervision, and helps ensure compliance with school transportation policies and safety procedures.

School Administrators, Transportation Staff, Bus Drivers, Teachers, and Families Supervises :
Students while on the bus Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Bus Aide may perform the following duties: Assist the bus driver in maintaining appropriate student behavior and adherence to school transportation expectations. Support the implementation of school transportation safety rules and procedures. Assist younger students and students with disabilities during boarding, transportation, and unloading activities. Help ensure students board and exit the bus safely and in an orderly manner and check them in and out using tablet computer. Follow school-established student release procedures, including verification of authorized individuals. Verify that students are transported to their assigned destinations and follow established procedures for any student remaining on the bus after route completion. Document and report student conduct concerns and transportation incidents in accordance with school procedures. Collect and turn in items left on the bus according to school lost-and-found procedures. Provide age-appropriate reminders regarding transportation safety practices, including seat belt use. Participate in emergency evacuation drills and transportation safety training. Assist students and the bus driver during emergencies or accidents in accordance with established procedures. Maintain professional, ethical, and respectful interactions with students, families, staff, and community members. Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and appropriate conduct. Attend required meetings, trainings, workshops, and professional development activities. Maintain confidentiality of student, family, and employee information in accordance with FERPA, school policies, and applicable laws. Perform duties in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and school policies. Assist with maintaining cleanliness of the bus, including removing trash and light cleaning duties at the conclusion of assigned routes. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience working with children preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and staff. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Ability to meet all required background check and clearance requirements. Able to use a tablet computer. Physical Requirements Ability to board and exit a school bus multiple times per shift. Ability to assist students during loading, unloading, and emergency situations. Ability to lift, push, pull, or assist with mobility devices as required, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
