Position Title School Bus Monitor/Attendant Required Application Type School Related Personnel Salary/Pay Scale $17.36/hr (minimum) Job Description School Bus Monitor/Attendant Substitute and Probationary Positions Available Transportation Department 2-8 hrs/day, 10 mos/year Mon-Fri Shenendehowa Central School District has anticipated vacancies and is accepting applications on a continuous basis. The nationally recognized Transportation Department is seeking culturally proficient school bus monitors/attendants who actively foster an engaging environment where students can develop confidence in their own success consistent with the Shenendehowa Profiles. Job Responsibilities This position is responsible for assisting the school bus driver in maintaining order, safeguarding students and supervising the loading and unloading of buses.
Responsibilities include:
Inform and maintain the safe and orderly conduct of student passengers on a school bus while in transit; May assist students with disabilities as defined in student's individualized education program (IEP); May tend to the special needs of a student based on their individual IEP; Must comply with all State, Federal, Agency, and NYS Education Department requirements; Must follow all safety rules and Transportation laws and regulations; and Assists school bus driver as needed and other responsibilities as assigned. Qualified candidates:
must possess high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma (GED), complete a pre-employment background check, and pass a NYS Education Department physical performance test. Ability to communicate with young individuals, command their respect, and carry out both verbal and written directions. Exhibit good motor skills and hand/eye coordination, mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, thoroughness, good judgment, mental alertness, tact and courtesy. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administration. Physical condition commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
