Job Description
SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Bus Aide at Wauseon Exempted Village School District. The Bus Aide will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students during transportation to and from school. This full-time position requires a commitment to fostering a positive and supportive environment for all students while assisting the bus driver in managing student behavior and ensuring a safe journey.5 hour position6:15 a.m

- Monitor student behavior on the bus to ensure compliance with safety regulations and district policies
- Provide support to students with special needs, including those requiring assistance with mobility or other accommodations
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding transportation-related concerns
- Conduct safety checks of the bus and report any maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel
- Implement emergency procedures as needed to ensure the safety of all passengers
- Maintain a positive and respectful atmosphere on the bus, promoting a culture of kindness and cooperation among students
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required by the school district
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the transportation supervisor or school administration.
- Must hold a State Board of Education Educational Aide Permit or have the ability to obtain one
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience working with children, particularly in an educational or transportation setting, is desirable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and staff
- Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations and respond appropriately to emergencies
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to school transportation
- Must pass a background check and any required drug screenings
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work
- Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and late afternoons, as required by the school schedule.
