At OCDC, our work has purpose. Every role contributes to creating stronger families, healthier communities, and brighter futures for children across Oregon.
Position Summary:
Assists the Bus Driver in transporting children safely on the school bus. Helps to ensure that children are transported in a healthy and educational environment and facilitates communication with staff and parents regarding the children's needs and center activities.
Essential Functions:
Assists the Bus Driver in the implementation of OCDC and state requirements for transportation of children in the school bus by: Working in collaboration with the Bus Driver to supervise children and to ensure that no child is left alone or unsupervised. Following OCDC's procedures to load and unload children safely from the school bus. Assisting the Bus Driver to ensure the correct children enter and exit the bus and are released to the authorized person. Ensuring that all children, parents, staff, and volunteers are seated and always buckled in appropriate car seats or seat belts. Keeping children's belongings safely secured and distributing children's belongings to the appropriate person after children have been transported. Maintaining the strict requirements of the vehicle capacity. Assisting the Bus Driver in maintaining a clean bus. Participating in the children's education about transportation safety. Completing required paperwork and documentation. Monitors behavior on the bus with particular attention to safety, the setting of behavioral limits, and appropriate educational activities by: Assisting in the transition of the children into the center and the home. Ensuring a pleasant and educational bus ride through singing, activities and talking with children. Applying OCDC's positive child behavioral philosophies to reduce conflicts or excessive noise. Providing water or other methods of relief on hot days.
Follows OCDC medication procedures including:
Ensuring that all medications are properly stored and transported. Assisting the family in the completion of the required authorization forms in the event the medication is presented for the first time. Ensuring proper forms are signed and dated with last dosage information daily. Facilitates and maintains good rapport and positive communication with parents, children, and staff by: Ensuring the proper delivery of notes, messages, information, and/or notices between staff and families. Assisting parents in understanding and relaying information.
Education and Experience Requirements:
No prior education or experience is required for this position.
Pay Range:
The pay range for this position is $17.00 to $19.71 hourly. Placement within the range is determined by factors such as relevant experience, skills, certifications, and internal equity.
