As an Activities Assistant, you'll help create engaging, fulfilling experiences that support residents' physical, social, spiritual, and emotional well-being. Your Role in the Legacy Mission As an Activities Assistant, you'll support the Life Enrichment Director in designing and carrying out programs that make each day purposeful and enjoyable for residents. You'll help organize activities, lead events, and build relationships that enrich the lives of the Greatest Generation. Through your compassion and energy, you'll uphold Legacy's mission to serve seniors with honor, faith, and integrity, helping residents thrive in body, mind, and spirit. What You'll Do Resident Engagement & Programming Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing a variety of activities that promote residents' physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. Help coordinate and participate in daily group and individual activities such as games, crafts, music, exercise, spiritual programs, and community outings. Encourage and assist residents to participate in activities of interest, ensuring safety and inclusion for all abilities. Support the Life Enrichment Director in creating and distributing monthly activity calendars. Lead or co-lead activities with enthusiasm and positivity. Document resident participation, preferences, and progress as required by policy and regulation. Contribute to resident care plans by sharing insights into engagement levels and social needs. Maintain and display a pictorial scrapbook or photo collection of activities and events throughout the year. Community, Events & Volunteers Assist in planning and coordinating special events, holiday celebrations, and themed parties. Help recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to support activity programs. Encourage participation from residents' families, local organizations, churches, and community groups. Maintain accurate volunteer records, hours, and recognition programs. Represent the community with professionalism and warmth during events and public interactions. Resident Council & Feedback Support the Resident Council, helping schedule meetings, record minutes, and document concerns and follow-up. Communicate resident suggestions and feedback to the Life Enrichment Director and appropriate team members to ensure continuous improvement in programming. Safety, Compliance & Teamwork Follow all infection control, safety, and emergency procedures (including fire and evacuation). Maintain a clean, organized activity space and ensure equipment is safe and in good condition. Respect residents' rights and maintain confidentiality at all times. Protect residents from neglect, abuse, or mistreatment and report concerns immediately. Attend in-service training, workshops, and meetings to support personal and professional growth. Collaborate with all departments to enhance the overall resident experience. Assist with other duties as assigned by the Life Enrichment Director or Executive Director. High school diploma or GED Prior experience in a resident activities program in a health care setting preferred. Prior completion of a state-approved training course, or willingness to complete a state approved training course within six months of employment. Excellent creative and communication skills Skill at working with individuals who have cognitive, physical or sensory disabilities. Practical knowledge of how an Activity Department functions in a nursing facility. General knowledge of regulatory requirements for an activity program in a Personal Care / ALF facility. Outstanding interpersonal skills with high level of energy and enthusiasm Experience in working with volunteers and ability to organize and develop volunteer program. Organization, documentation, and implementation of detailed programs. Genuine caring for and interest in elderly and disabled people in a nursing facility. Comply with the Resident' Rights and Facility Policies and Procedures. Perform work tasks within the physical demand requirements as outlined below. Perform Essential Duties as outlined above. Plan, organize, and direct a program of activities, which provides opportunity for entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and expression and fulfills basic psychological, social, and spiritual needs, which will be available to all residents of the facility. Assists the physically, emotionally, and cognitively impaired individual and family to explore appropriate avocation/leisure pursuits.
