Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supervises a group of children. Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards. Attends staff meetings and trainings. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies. Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.YMCA COMPETENCIES

Abuse Risk Management language : Employees and volunteers who directly supervise consumers will: Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers. Attend required abuse risk management training. Employees and volunteers who do not directly supervise consumers will: Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers. Attend required abuse risk management training. Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations. Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements. Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities. Maintenance employees and volunteers—ensure unused rooms and closets remain locked; routinely monitor high-risk locations (locker-rooms and bathrooms), etc. Front desk personnel—ensure consumers are properly signed in and signed out,ensures only authorized adults are allowed in the facility, etc. Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers. Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations. Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements. High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred. Previous experience working with children preferably in a day camp setting Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, boating, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc… At least 18 years of age (The age minimum may be higher depending on state law and YMCA policies.) CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, Bloodborne Pathogens training and Child Abuse Prevention training before day camp begins. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
