Job Description

Participates in the coordination of programs and instructs community center members in various recreational activities. include the following. The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Other duties may be assigned. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position. Professionally instructs students in arts, aerobics, drama, dance, needlework, martial arts, music, sports, games, or other recreation activities. Plans, organizes, promotes, conducts, and evaluates programs. Plans classes and secures materials and equipment used for them. Takes necessary precautions to ensure the safety of participants. Completes and maintains participation and attendance reports. Gymnastics (Coordinator)
Emphasis:
Must possess a highly defined focus towards both internal and external guest service. Explains and demonstrates use of apparatus and equipment. Explains and demonstrate principles, techniques, and methods of regulating movement of body, hands, and feet to achieve proficiency. Observes gymnasts during practice to detect and correct mistakes. Explains and enforces safety rules and regulations. Organizes and conducts practice sessions and competitions. Checks equipment regularly for safety and needed maintenance. Communicates with management and secretary for invoicing and marketing. Finds substitutes for classes when not available. Communicates with parents, gymnasts, coordinator(s), and supervisor. Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service. Helps recruit participants to obtain and maintain minimum established class size. Writes accident and incident reports. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Four (4) years gymnastics coaching experience. Safety Certification through USAG, or have the ability to obtain within one (1) month of employment. Thorough knowledge of program practices and activities is required. Other combinations of education and experience that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted. Certification(s) related to specific programs are required. CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred. Valid driver's license and a good driving record. •

•The complexity, guidelines, supervisory controls, and supervision responsibilities described below are representative of this position.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The work is closely controlled, either by a supervisor or by the structured nature of the work. For both one-of a kind and repetitive tasks the supervisor makes specific assignments that are accompanied by clear, detailed, and specific instructions. The worker consults with the supervisor as needed on all matters not specifically covered in the original instructions or guidelines. The supervisor reviews most work.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Trains other coaches and instructors on proper techniques and safety for the corresponding level of gymnastics. Requires the ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with other City personnel, the general public, and representatives of other agencies.
COMPLEXITY
The work consists of tasks that are clear-cut and directly related; there is little or no choice to be made in deciding what needs to be done; actions to be taken or responses to be made are readily discernible; the work is quickly mastered.
GUIDELINES
Specific, detailed guidelines covering all important aspects of the assignment are provided; authorization is needed for deviations. There is no choice in deciding what needs to be done and very little choice in how the task is to be done.
