Job Description

JOB The Yavapai County Juvenile Probation Department is seeking a Program Coordinator I to support the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program. This position involves performing administrative duties and coordinating assigned programs within Juvenile Court Services to ensure effective advocacy for children involved in the dependency court system. The ideal candidate will possess an associate's degree or have at least two years of progressively responsible experience in areas such as substance abuse treatment, child welfare, community intervention, juvenile programs, victim rights, or a related field.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Manages program participants and provides ongoing support as needed.

Conducts research, compiles, and analyzes data using spreadsheets, graphs and word processing software; submits reports to administration as needed or required.

Prepares written and oral reports; responds to requests for information; develops policies and procedures, and coordinates activities with collaborating agencies. Assists with coordinating or supporting other juvenile dependency programs and activities.

Assists in the maintenance, inventory, disposition and storage of all supplies, equipment, and tools.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Dependency CourtScreens prospective participants, facilitates collaboration among participants, and provides ongoing support to participants.

Identifies, coordinates, and develops needed services. Participates in administrative meetings and trainings required by County and State; attends staffing, Foster Care Review Board, model court conferences, hearings, and judicial hearing with, or in the absence of, volunteers.

May perform administrative functions, including planning, data entry, records management, and coordination of special events for volunteers and program participants. Develops curriculum and provides training programs for judges, court staff, participants, and community agencies.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge of:
Court organization, functions, services, practices, and procedures.

Community organizations and service providers, family services, juvenile programs, social service planning, substance abuse assessment or treatment, family and marital counseling, and pertinent victim's rights information.

Criminal justice procedures.

Psychological, sociological, and cultural influence on interpersonal relationships and human behaviors.

Basic principles/practices of case flow management, records management, automation office management, and intergovernmental relations.

Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.

Clerical, office practices and procedures.

Research techniques and report writing.

Current MS office software.

Filing and recordkeeping.

Skill in: Analyzing court programs, services and project outcomes and making recommendations for improvements.

Creating public information materials and speaking in public forums.

Simplifying policies and procedures.

Budgeting, grant writing, and grant management.

Working with a diverse group of individuals that include volunteers, judges, court staff, attorneys, treatment and service providers or professionals, participants, and the general public.

Communication and supervisory skillsCommunicate effectively verbally and in writing and communicate orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.

Well-organized and detail oriented.

Ability to: Develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public.

Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.

Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties. Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.

Work professionally and effectively with co-workers, clients, victims of crime, witnesses, and the general public.

Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy
Work Environment:
The work environment is associated with an office. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
