Until Filled Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitors attendance of the recreational area, with the priority area being children K-12. Ensures participants follow the rules and regulations of the Community Center, documenting occurrences such as incidents and injury/illness reports. Assists Coordinator in planning and implementation of organized sport activities (indoors/outdoors) - may be inclusive of organizing local volunteer coaches. Conduct recreational activities for age groups to include children, youth, teens, young adults, and adults - with the priority area being children K-12. Must assist with events such as Fundraisers, Winter Camp, Easter Egg Hunt, Nuwuvi Days, Indian Days, Halloween, Thanksgiving Dinner, Christmas Dinner, Toys for Tots, and other scheduled events. Help build self-esteem of participants through a range of recreation/organized sports programs. Communicate effectively with co-workers, children, parents, and community members. Requires cleaning of the Community Center, Weight Room, Gymnasium, and other recreation areas every day, or as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have a valid driver's license and must be insurable (good driving record). Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and be physically active. Self-starter that can work with youth without constant supervision. Must work flexible hours, evenings, and Saturdays.
Other Requirements:
Submit to pre-employment Drug Screening. Submit to pre-employment background check - due to working with community children. Comply with Drug-Free Workplace Policy. Background in coaching/organizing recreational activities and/or organized sports preferred. Food Handler's, First Aid, and CPR Certification, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment. Lifeguard Certification preferred. Experience working with one or more of the following: soccer, basketball, baseball, volleyball, swimming, track, football, etc., preferred. Understanding of the dynamics of organized sports and how they assist in the development of self-esteem and pride.
