MISSION STATEMENT

QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a minimum of 16 years old. Working knowledge of areas of sports such as (volleyball, basketball, flag football, soccer, etc.) One year of experience of sport or related coaching experience. Must have ability to work and relate well with people and project a friendly, customer service demeanor. CPR/First Aid certification preferred. Meet all Health Department and Salvation Army health & safety regulations. Good physical and mental health, capable of meeting the demands of the climbing wall, gymnasium, and athletic field programs. Have a philosophy oriented towards childhood education & child development. Demonstrated ability to work with children, parents, and staff in a capacity of leadership, mentoring and education including but not limited to: Ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to children of all ages. Sensitivity to children's individual needs. Ability to use appropriate positive discipline consistently. Dependability. Ability to handle security and crisis situations calmly. Ability to seek supervision and use it consistently. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Will assist the Athletics Manager and Lead Sports Attendants in the sports programs. Will assist in gymnasium/recreation field preparation and clean up. Assist in supervision of gymnasium, field, and special events. Interface with peers, supervisors, and people of various socio-economic backgrounds Ensure the safe use of the facility by enforcement of facility regulations and ensuring that use of the facility is limited to authorized patrons. Provide information and answer questions about current program offerings. Report all gymnasium and recreation field defects and repair problems to Lead Sports Attendants or Athletics Manager in a timely fashion. Enforce all rules that pertain to the gymnasium and recreation field and facility on a constant basis. Work with volunteers & maintain a professional demeanor to enhance the volunteer experience. Assist with emergencies and accidents. Report facility problems to the Facilities Department and to the appropriate supervisor, to maintain a safe environment for staff and members. Follow and adhere to The Salvation Army policies, protocols & procedures. Maintain the Code of Ethics policy at all times. Perform other duties as directed as they relate to the position of Sports Attendant
II. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must have ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
