BLISS BELLY KITCHEN
(BBK) is a sustainable plant-based school of yoga and cooking for children ages 5-12. We are now in our 11th year of operation. As a Lead Counselor, you will oversee multiple small groups of campers who learn how to cook delicious vegetarian food with mindfulness and care. Lead Counselors are also responsible for leading yoga and mindfulness instruction and conducting morning check in and check out. Camp Counselors are also in charge of supervising campers during lunch and playtime, dishwashing, kitchen clean up, weekly laundering of aprons and dishtowels, mopping, and taking out the trash. All Staff receive a FREE daily home-cooked lunch, a wonderful group of people to work with, and eligibility to earn an end of season bonus based on punctuality and attendance! Required Qualifications and Experience 2+ years of experience or equivalent as a lead instructor in a classroom setting, afterschool program, summer camp, or outdoor education Experience teaching any of the following topics: cooking, yoga, science, or outdoor education to elementary school aged youth College degree, equivalent trade school degree, or 5+ years of full time group childcare experience in an elementary school setting Preferred Qualifications and Experience Commitment to providing an education experience that is child-centered, safe, and inclusive Ability to stay calm and keep your sense of humor in a fast-paced environment Willingness to follow directions and to work in a team Confidence and ability to take initiative and have a leadership role Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, upbeat, positive, mature attitude and respectful communication approach Ability to do yoga poses and play active games with campers Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist and turn, and lift 25 pounds Experience in the kitchen and can follow a recipe Knowledge of farmers markets, sustainable cooking practices, breathing, yoga and meditation Fun camp talents such as games, storytelling, music, arts and crafts

This is a required schedule. Can you commit to this? We require applicants to submit short videos demonstrating knife + yoga skill demonstrations (we will send you a tutorial to follow). Are you willing/able to submit these videos if requested? Share a sentence about your background practicing yoga and breathing and/or your willingness to learn. Staff practice yoga and breath work on a daily basis. Can you do 12 sun salutations? Imagine you are conducting a small group lesson. 2 campers are having a side conversation. How would you handle that? You see a pile of dishes. What will you do? Do you have a car?
Note:
it is not required to have one. There are extra hours that can be earned for shopping for ingredients and doing laundry (washing the dish towels and camper aprons). Would you be interested in up to 5 hours of extra work per week? We are dividing the summer into 2 sessions to increase accessibility, however, if you're interested in working the ENTIRE SUMMER, that's encouraged! Session 1: June 1
