Mission Ranch Tennis & Fitness is seeking an energetic, responsible, and enthusiastic Summer Camp Counselor to support our one-week Tennis Summer Camp. Key Responsibilities:
Greet all guests courteously and promptly, creating a positive first impression Supervise campers throughout the day and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment Provide active supervision during tennis sessions, meals, breaks, transitions, and drop-off and pick-up periods Take daily attendance and promptly report missing, late, or unauthorized participants Organize campers into appropriate groups based on age, skill level, and scheduled activities Assist tennis instructors with age-appropriate lessons, drills, games, and recreational activities Demonstrate basic tennis techniques, rules, sportsmanship, and proper court etiquette Encourage teamwork, confidence, participation, and respectful behavior Address minor behavioral concerns appropriately and report significant concerns to the Tennis Director Ensure campers remain hydrated, take appropriate breaks, and follow established sun and heat-safety guidelines Respond appropriately to injuries, illnesses, emergencies, or other incidents in accordance with camp procedures Follow authorized camper-release procedures during pick-up Communicate professionally with parents and guardians regarding routine camp information and refer significant concerns to management Set up, organize, and put away tennis equipment, court supplies, and activity materials Inspect courts and equipment for safety concerns and report hazards or damaged equipment Keep courts, camp areas, and shared spaces clean, organized, and free of hazard Maintain accurate attendance, incident, and activity records assigned Follow all club policies, emergency procedures, and child-safety requirements Attend required staff meetings, training sessions, and daily camp briefings Perform other duties as assigned Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Must be at least 16 years of age by the first scheduled day of employment Enjoy working with children in a recreational setting Friendly, dependable, patient, and enthusiastic Ability to work outdoors in warm summer weather Strong communication and teamwork skill Basic knowledge of tennis is preferred but not required CPR/First Aid certification is a plus Education & Experience Current high school enrollment or high school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous experience working with children in a camp, school, sports, recreation, coaching, or volunteer setting preferred Previous tennis experience or familiarity with basic tennis rules and techniques preferred but not required Experience participating in organized sports, youth programs, or recreational activities is helpful Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday Ability to move quickly across tennis courts and activity areas when responding to campers or safety concerns Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, and occasional climbing of stairs Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull tennis equipment, supplies, and activity materials weighing up to 25 pounds Ability to demonstrate basic tennis movements and participate in games, and recreational activities Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in warm weather and varying environmental conditions Ability to maintain visual and auditory awareness of campers and surrounding activities Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation Work Environment Work is performed primarily outdoors on tennis courts and in surrounding recreational areas, with occasional work in indoor facilities Regular exposure to sunlight, heat, wind, dust, and other seasonal weather conditions May work in warm or hot temperatures for extended periods and must follow established hydration, rest-break, and heat-safety procedures The noise level may range from moderate to high due to group activities, athletic instruction, equipment use, and camper participation Work involves frequent interaction with children, parents and guardians, tennis instructors, and other staff members The environment is active and fast-paced and requires continuous attention to camper safety and surrounding activities May be exposed to tennis balls, rackets, athletic equipment, uneven surfaces, and other conditions commonly associated with sports and recreational programs Work schedules may vary based on camp enrollment, programming needs,
