Nature Summer Camp Counselor (Seasonal)

Nature School LA is hiring Summer Camp Counselors for our outdoor nature-based summer camps in Playa Vista and Culver City! We are looking for creative, energetic, and responsible educators who are passionate about working with children outdoors and fostering curiosity through nature exploration, ecology, art, and play-based learning. Our summer camp takes place in beaches, parks, lagoons, trails, and natural spaces throughout Los Angeles' Westside. Camp counselors will help create a safe, engaging, and inspiring environment where children can connect with nature through hands-on activities, environmental stewardship, storytelling, movement, science, and creative arts.

Responsibilities:

Lead and supervise groups of children ages 3-11 in outdoor settings Plan and facilitate nature-based lessons and activities Support art projects, outdoor games, hiking, beach exploration, and ecological learning Encourage child-led exploration and social-emotional development Maintain a positive, safe, and nurturing camp environment Assist with daily camp setup, cleanup, and transitions between activities Communicate professionally with fellow staff and families

Qualifications:

Experience working with children in camps, schools, outdoor education, forest schools, or similar programs Strong comfort working outdoors in various environments and weather conditions Knowledge or passion for ecology, environmental education, outdoor skills, and nature connection Experience with arts, crafts, music, storytelling, or creative programming preferred Ability to independently plan engaging lessons and activities for mixed-age groups Reliable, collaborative, organized, and proactive Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (strength and stamina to follow strenuous activities like hiking, running, crouching or carrying children) CPR/First Aid certification preferred
