JOB SUMMARY
Student Summer Camp Counselors are responsible for supporting the Summer Camp Care program and assisting teachers. This also includes lunch supervision and elementary recess supervision. Counselor will work a schedule of 20-25 hours weekly, subject to change by director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Take primary responsibility for the health, wellbeing and happiness of students. 2. Guide students in participating successfully in all aspects of summer camp activities. 3. Observe student behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures and apply appropriate behavior management techniques. 4. Support and assist children with academic activities and questions. 5. Recognize and respond to opportunities for group problem solving. 6. Encourage respect for personal property, school equipment and facilities. 7. Set a good example for students in all areas, including cleanliness, punctuality, cleanup chores, rules and sportsmanship. 8. Meet/communicate regularly with Director regarding concerns, updates, and challenges. 9. Maintain a positive working relationship with other staff, parents, guardians, and outside group teachers and agents. 10. All other duties as assigned.

11. Provide opportunities for campers so that each individual experiences success while at camp. 12. Prepare for and actively participate in pre-camp training and weekly meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Demonstrated experience working with children. 2. Has a joy and love for children. 3. Ability to teach and lead various recreational activities. 4. Ability to communicate and work with a variety of age and skill levels. 5. Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control. 6. Computer skills are strongly recommended. 7. First Aid/CPR certificate. 8. TB clearance within last four years. 9. Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance. 10. Current Mandated Reporter Training Certificate

1. Must be of excellent moral character, integrity and adaptability. 2. Well-developed interpersonal skills and the desire and ability to work in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere. 3. Ability to get along with diverse personalities with tact, maturity and flexibility. 4. Must be able to recognize and support the school's preferences and priorities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sitting (5%), standing (30%), walking (50%), lifting (5%), climbing (1%), stooping (1%), bending (5%), squatting (3%). Must be able to lift 8 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work environment can vary based on time of day and outside weather conditions. Areas will include classroom settings, out door play areas, and cafeteria. Must be willing to ride bus with noise levels commensurate to student/camper volume, energy, and excitement. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
