Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Maple Tree Village (MTV) Activity Assistant is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the community Activity Programs including safe operation of transportation vehicles for outings, joy rides, and safe delivery of residents to and from assigned destinations. This position ensures that daily scheduled programs meet the comprehensive needs and interest of all MTV residents. This non-exempt position reports to the (LES) Life Enrichment Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
: Assists LES in planning and leading daily group and one-on-one activities tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and cognitive levels. Participates in the residents' service plan of care and documents residents' specific needs. Maintains activity calendars; documents attendance records. Helps with serving residents during mealtimes as needed. Encourages resident social, recreational, educational, spiritual, wellness program participation: conducts room visits & activities for residents unable/unwilling to attend group sessions. Observes residents' moods, behaviors, participation levels; reports concerns to supervisors/staff Provides specialized engagement activities for residents with dementia or memory impairments. Escorts and assists residents to and from activities, outings, appointments, and special events. Drives residents for activity outings & shopping as needed. Assists residents with additional support during activities while preserving dignity and respect; meets residents' needs and interests considering resident's abilities and physical limitations. Helps set up, decorate, and clean activity areas before and after programs. Supports holiday events, themed celebrations, community outings, and family events. Sets up and operates various equipment such as microphones, keyboards, TV monitors, projection systems, etc.; maintains systems to include preventative maintenance. Works with volunteer staff to ensure smooth operations of activities programs. Ensures activity supplies and equipment are organized, clean, and safely maintained. Follows community policies, infection control procedures, resident rights, and safety guidelines. Works with caregivers, nursing staff, families, volunteers, and other departments to promote resident well-being.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in Social Services, Gerontology or related field preferred. Proficient verbal and written English communication skills; bi-lingual a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel & Word). Ability to work evenings and weekends required. 21 years of age for per company vehicle insurance requirements. Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record. Experience working with older adults in a non-profit organization is preferred.
