JOB SUMMARY
The Sports Buddies Program Coordinator leads a dynamic, group-based mentoring experience through weekend events that connect youth and mentors in fun, engaging settings. This role oversees the full participant lifecycle, including enrollment, program delivery, and match support, ensuring a high-quality and safe experience for all involved. The Coordinator is responsible for facilitating enrollment processes, planning and executing events and programming, and supporting match development. The ultimate goal is to inspire participants to transition into our traditional Community-Based Mentoring program by creating impactful experiences that build strong relationships and long-term commitment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Participant Enrollment
  • Plan and facilitate interviews with youth, parents/guardians, and volunteers to assess fit, readiness, and alignment with program expectations
  • Complete participant assessments based on interviews and application materials
  • Conduct reference checks and review program rules, expectations, and child safety guidelines with all participants
  • Coordinate enrollment tasks with Enrollment and Match team members
  • Track enrollment progress and maintain up-to-date records in alignment with agency standards Session Planning & Execution
  • Plan, coordinate, and staff weekend Sports Buddies events
  • Develop engaging, age-appropriate curriculum and activity plans tied to mentorship goals and youth development themes.
  • Manage all logistics including location scouting, equipment, permissions, safety measures, and materials. Match Engagement & Community-Based Readiness
  • Serve as the relationship manager for matches in the program, maintaining regular communication and touchpoints.
  • Observe match dynamics at events and assess readiness for transition into the Community-Based program.
  • Collaborate with the Enrollment and Match team to refer and transition strong participants into longer-term matches. Program Operations & Community Relationships
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with community partners who can offer facilities, expertise, or enrichment for events.
  • Track participation, satisfaction, and program metrics in line with agency standards.
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and other engagement activities.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Experience in youth development, mentoring programs, nonprofit programming, or related field preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish required
  • Experience working with young adults and/or professional stakeholders preferred
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and public speaking skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate ambiguity
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance required
