Job Description

The City of Vacaville is accepting applications for a variety of exciting positions within our Parks & Recreation Department. Come join the fun! Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Applications will be reviewed and qualified candidates will be referred to the hiring department on a biweekly basis. Recreation specialists work in a variety of programs including: Adult and Youth Sports
  • Providing support for youth and adult sports activities and leagues Adaptive Recreation
  • Facilitating programs for individuals with disabilities Concessions
  • Taking food orders and operating food preparation equipment Facilities
  • Perform facility, site and equipment set-up and take-down (works nights and weekends) Gymnastics
  • Support staff with coaching programs and activities Special Events
  • Organizing and directing event activities for the Vacaville community such as Creek Walk, VacaCon and Merriment on Main Youth Services

Part-time positions are paid an hourly rate and can work up to a maximum of 129 hours per month. Some positions may require working irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays. Part-time positions are at-will, are not eligible for health or retirement benefits and do not accrue leave time with the exception of State-mandated sick leave (40 hours per year).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
None required.
Experience:
None required. Some related work experience is desirable, such as working in a recreation or sports environment with the public of any age, working with youth, or providing customer service and cash handling.
License or Certificate:
Select positions may require the possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record as conditions of initial and continued employment. Must be at least 18 years of age if required to drive vehicles for City business. Select positions may require the ability to obtain CPR & First Aid Certificates within 30 days of hire.
