10-Jun-2026 Job Summary Recreation Services at the University of Colorado, Boulder is seeking applications for a Team Sports Coordinator! This position is responsible for supporting the Team Sports program, with a primary area of focus on Sport Clubs and shared support of Intramural Sports. This includes strategic forecasting, implementing risk management strategies, fiscal oversight, developing policies and procedures, and staff hiring, training and development. The Team Sports Coordinator also works with appropriate internal and external partners while providing program oversight to ensure compliance and operational success. Recreation Services oversees the LEED Platinum main campus Student Rec Center, a building with over 300,000 square feet of recreation and fitness activity space, as well as a satellite recreation center at Williams Village, outdoor basketball courts, a challenge ropes course, and eight turf and grass fields around campus. Throughout these facilities, members of the CU community can engage with a variety of programs that include ice skating, indoor rock climbing, intramural and club sports, yoga, aquatics, and so much more. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Sport Club Administration:
Assist in the planning and implementation of the Sport Club program, including supporting officer trainings, leadership development initiatives, budget processes, policy management, travel coordination, and risk management. Assist assigned clubs in the coordination of special events and tournaments. Ensure assigned clubs are compliant in the completion of all required tasks for successful club operation to include student eligibility, fundraising, travel, and special events. Provide development to student officers of assigned club(s) to prepare for the challenges of leading a large, complex organization. Meet with club leadership and members on a defined schedule to discuss progress, challenges, and disciplinary matters. Intramural Sports Administration:
Assist in the planning, organization, scheduling, administration, and team/participant registration process using provided technology, for producing a comprehensive intramural sports program including leagues, tournaments, and special events. Develop, plan, and implement sport officials' training for Intramural Sports staff. Track and review all received intramural sports event results to ensure accuracy. Conduct player education/disciplinary meetings as needed. Communicate with participants, address inquiries, concerns, and feedback. Supervision/Oversight:
Directly supervise coaches of assigned clubs and provide shared supervision of all program student staff. . Hire, onboard, and manage the payroll process for all student employees and club coaches in collaboration with Student Life Employee Experience. Offer continued oversight of employee status and address any arising issues. Support the ongoing training and evaluation processes for all Team Sports program-related staff to include students and coaches. Monitor and evaluate Team Sports events in real time during hours of competition, providing ongoing guidance and support to staff to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality program delivery. Maintain required documentation on all staff training and certifications. Fiscal Management:
Support the fiscal operations of the Team Sports program with support from the Recreation & Wellbeing ' Sport Club Business and Finance Coordinator and Student Life Business Services. Assist with budget planning, justification, and management, including the purchase and inventory of equipment used in the Team Sports program. Complete fiscal year-end processes to ensure assigned clubs are in good financial standing. Manage budgets (income and expenditure) for assigned sport clubs. Assist clubs with fiscal responsibilities regarding travel expenses including lodging and transportation needs (i.e., airfare, charter buses, vehicle rentals). Work with clubs to collect receipts and prepare information for submissions. Assist clubs with equipment purchases using a University Purchasing Card or arrangement of Purchase Order requests. Risk Management/Compliance:
Assist in the formation, review, and enforcement of all policies and procedures relating to Team Sports, including annual revisions of all sport rules and regulations as well as participant handbooks. Review and approve assigned Sport Club travel, ensuring adherence to institutional policies and risk standards. Review shift report submissions to ensure adequate follow up for all reported programmatic concerns. Provide on-site event management and logistical assistance for Sport Club home events Manage registration processes, waivers, rosters, and required documentation for participants and athletes. Submit and manage facility reservations in accordance with departmental policies and timelines, ensuring the availability of appropriate spaces for scheduled events. Supervise safety inspections of facilities and equipment, ensuring safe conditions for all activities. Respond to incidents, injuries, and emergencies; complete required documentation and reporting. Program Development and Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with both internal and external program areas and departments to ensure successful programming. Support assessment and management of area challenges. Use university procedural knowledge as well as area expertise to address and resolve pertinent issues primarily independently. Communicate resolutions clearly with appropriate parties. Benchmark, develop, and bring forth innovative ideas for successful Team Sports program administration. Ensure clubs maintain an appropriate media presence to recruit, retain, and inform members, as well as promote club activities and accomplishments. Work collaboratively with University Marketing & Communications to create, manage, and implement any media and promotional needs. This will include social media advertisements, social media posts and reports, webpage edits, promotional fliers, etc. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, in-service education sessions, and other divisional or departmental meetings. Participate in the development of ideas and suggestions for the Recreation Services program and facility improvements. Ensure that the Recreation Center's facilities, equipment, and programs are meeting or exceeding the standards of the department quality by using and attending its offerings. Assist with additional initiatives, assignments, and special projects as needed. Engage in department coordinated training with a focus in leadership, access, and community building. Summer Event Management:
Support summer event management responsibilities through Recreation & Wellbeing Operations & Events. Meet and greet customers for special events, meetings, competitions, and summer camps. Provide excellent communication and dissemination of information to event patrons and leads. Supervise facility operations for assigned events. Manage set-up and tear-down of equipment used for special events. Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external constituents to satisfy service expectations. What You Should Know This position will have an afternoon and evening schedule including a weekend day during the school year. The normal working hours during the academic year are 11 AM - 7 PM, Tuesday - Saturday. Hours will shift over the summer depending on the activities happening from week to week. What We Require Bachelor's degree and 1 year of full time professional experience in recreational sports programming. Two years of a Graduate Assistantship is an equivalent combination of education and experience that may be used to substitute for 1 year of full-time experience. Ability to obtain First Aid certification within three months of hire. What You Will Need Excellent written and oral communication skills, people skills, and ability to work collaboratively. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a member of the CU community. Excellent organizational skills. Knowledge of procedures and standards in collegiate recreation. Ability to plan, implement and evaluate programs. The incumbent must work well independently and in a staff environment. Able to handle ambiguous situations confidently while adhering to university policy. Able to demonstrate initiative, integrity, transparency and strong organizational/leadership skills. What We Would Like You to Have Master's Degree. Experience supervising and training student officials. Experience supervising employees, interns, and /or volunteer personnel in a recreation setting. Experience making purchases and reconciling accounts. Officiating experience in organized or recreational sports setting. 2 years GA (Graduate Assistant) experience may substitute 2 1 year full-time experience.
