Job Description

Position Summary, Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for assisting the Recreation Coordinator at the Community Recreation Center to plan, prepare, run and evaluate special events, and activities. Performs all functions in a professional, friendly manner as presented in the associate handbook. Leads volunteers in programs and events. Plans menus, food preparation, comparative shopping, cooking, serving, and clean up. Meets regularly with the Recreation Coordinator and other staff for planning and evaluating the Center's operations. Assists with the set up and take down of tables, chairs, and audio/visual equipment to provide proper arrangements for activities. Basic knowledge of physical, social, mental, and emotional changes that occur with aging. Performs other duties or tasks as assigned.
Job Qualifications Minimum age:
21. Knowledge of event/meal planning and preparation, including development of menus, and determining amounts of food/supplies. Ability to make sound decisions and use good judgment during repeated interruptions and stressful situations. CPR/First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain). Education and Experience Ability to effectively use recreational and general office software on computers. Strong verbal and written communication abilities with great customer service skills. Basic knowledge of budgeting and business math skills, including recipe conversion. Work Environment Work may take place in both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying weather conditions including sun, heat, cold, snow, and humidity. The position may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, chemically treated water, or other environmental irritants. Work may occur in environments with poor acoustics, distractions, or high activity levels. Occasional travel by vehicle may be required, with exposure to traffic, road construction, and varying road conditions. Noise levels range from moderate to loud, often due to active children, group interactions, or busy transportation settings. Physical Activity(s): Ability to work most of the day on your feet, performing both active supervision and hands-on tasks. Able to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, or sit on the floor as needed during activities or tasks. Ability to reach, grasp, and handle small objects, tools, or equipment with precision. Able to maintain balance and coordination while assisting with physical activities or working on uneven terrain. Ability to monitor participants, ensure safety, and respond to signals or emergencies. Ability to communicate effectively, including speaking loudly, when necessary, in noisy or outdoor environments.
