General Function:
Fully responsible for leading all programming involving horses, caring for 10-20 head of horses, and maintaining equipment. Will supervise and evaluate assistant wrangler staff. Will develop and lead curriculum for 1 week riding programs as well as daily trail rides. Ultimately, will maintain the safety of all participants and horses. Physical and Mental Requirements Physically fit and able to hike, walk, stand, bend and lift comfortably over the course of a day. Visually and mentally alert to recognize potential hazards and accidents. Physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer emergency care effectively. e q Must possess a cooperative spirit and be committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to campers, staff, and program participants. Manage a safe and positive equestrian experience for campers and staff. Show proficiency in western riding, horse care, grooming, tacking, and all other appropriate skills. Job Segments Follow all safety regulations and manage risks at the ranch and in all equestrian activities Supervise, mentor and evaluate Assistant Wrangler(s) Create a safe and positive riding/ranch experience for campers and staff. Organize and implement riding lessons, activities, trail rides, games, and curriculum for all equestrian programs in compliance with ACA and CHA standards. Regularly inspect and maintain ranch equipment and facilities to insure a safe and functional experience Feed, water and care for horses to insure the health of the herd. Immediately report any safety, health, equipment, maintenance, or horse problems to the Program Director upon discovery. Maintain inventory of necessary equipment/supplies, and inform Program Director of needed supplies in a timely fashion. Coordinate with outfitter, farrier and vet(s) as needed. Prepare for and actively participate in staff training and staff meetings. Act as a positive role model for campers and other staff, demonstrating the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in the performance of job duties. Play an active role in all camp activities. May be called upon to live with a cabin group or to assist counselors with a cabin group. Will work stay over weekends as assigned. Evaluate current season, make suggestions, and create a Head Wrangler manual for following season To perform all other duties as needed or assigned. These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required. Weekly salary of $480.00. Qualifications At least 21 years of age, with riding and teaching experience CHA, AHA, ARIA or AAHS certification required CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Oxygen and First Aid Certifications High School diploma or equivalent required Prior experience with youth or family programming
