General Purpose:

Easterseals Colorado, a non profit organization, has been a valuable resource for individuals with disabilities, caregivers, and their families for nearly a century. Summer Camp Counselors lead the Yay! Day Camp Program. This role involves engaging, leading, and implementing various educational and recreational activities for children aged 6-18 with disabilities. As a camp counselor, they'll ensure the safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being of the campers. The camp will be held at PRA Classical Academy, The camp takes place at Platte River Academy, 4085 Lark Sparrow St, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126, from June 8 to July 16, operating Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists in leading the theme days, arts and crafts, and recreational activities demonstrating various techniques and encouraging children. Communicates with parents, providing updates where required and answering questions about camp. Checking on children with medical needs to ensure their necessary needs are met. Will be responsible for working with the site personnel to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for staff and campers by adhering to all safety guidelines, including but not limited to, the disinfecting and cleaning of all areas used by the camp every day. Maintains positive energy levels within the staff. Qualifications:

Must be at least 16 years of age to meet the childcare licensing regulations in Colorado. Certification in CPR/First Aid or willingness to obtain before June 9. Must be able to pass all State and Federal background checks. Ability to display patience. Ability and willingness to work in a team environment. Ability and willingness to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.

Physical Requirements of This Position :

Ability to remain in a seated or standing position for prolonged periods, as needed. Consistently move throughout the camp facility to participate in activities. Engage in light physical activity, including bending, lifting up to 25 pounds, or assisting campers. Communicate clearly and effectively with campers, families, and staff to ensure accurate information and understanding.

Benefits Offered:

This seasonal position would not qualify for healthcare benefits; however, would qualify for coverage under workman's compensation insurance.
