Job Description

Job Summary Old Town Hot Springs is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Camp Counselor to lead our summer camp program from June 15, 2026
  • August 14, 2026, from 10am-1:15pm, for children ages 5-9.
This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children and are ready to take on a leadership position in a dynamic, active environment. Senior Camp Counselors are responsible for planning and leading daily activities, supervising campers, and mentoring Junior Counselors to ensure a safe, engaging, and positive camp experience. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise a group of campers ages 5-9 Plan, organize, and implement daily camp activities, including: Gentle outdoor hikes Swimming and water play in the pool Field games such as soccer, kickball, and relays Arts and crafts projects Yoga and dance sessions Provide clear direction and support to Junior Counselors Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers at all times Manage camper behavior using positive guidance and inclusion strategies Maintain a structured, organized, and fun camp environment Communicate effectively with staff and program supervisors Serve as a positive, energetic role model Qualifications Previous experience working with children ages 5-9 (camp, childcare, education, or similar setting) Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to take initiative Strong communication and teamwork abilities Responsible, dependable, and highly organized Energetic, patient, and enthusiastic Comfortable leading outdoor and physical activities Must be at least 16 years of age Preferred Qualifications CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Experience in recreation, education, or child development Prior camp or youth program leadership experience Physical Requirements Ability to life and carry 30-50 lbs Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Standing and walking for prolonged periods of time Schedule June 15
