Job Description
The Louisville Recreation Center is hiring for a Sports Assistant-Manager on Duty! In this role, you will support the day-to-day operations of adult and youth sports programs by coordinating various sporting events throughout the City of Louisville, while ensuring a safe, organized, and positive experience for participants, staff, and spectators. You must be 21 years of age or older for this position. Applications will be reviewed as submitted and interviews scheduled until position is filled. - Assist with daily operations of youth and adult athletic programs.
- Supervise games, practices, and tournaments throughout the City and at BVSD schools.
- Set up, monitor, and break down program spaces and equipment.
- Provide onsite support for major team sports (e.g., soccer, basketball, flag football).
- Monitor field and facility conditions; report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Enforce program rules and promote safety, sportsmanship, and positive conduct.
- Communicate effectively with coaches, parents, officials, participants, and staff.
- Serve as the primary point of contact during evenings and weekends for coaches, renters, and staff.
- Oversee game-day operations on weeknights and weekends.
- Respond to phone, email, and written inquiries in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings.
- Ensure program areas and equipment are safe, clean, and properly maintained.
- Assist with program development, brochure content, and marketing efforts.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including officiating and coaching when needed.
- Ability to teach sports such as soccer, tennis, basketball, flag football, and preschool sports.
- Regular and predictable attendance required.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in coordinating sports programs or a similar environment.

- Knowledge of recreation program policies and procedures.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to supervise and train staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to de-escalate and manage stressful or volatile situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse participants, staff, and community members.
- Ability to follow City and Department policies, procedures, and core values.
- Commitment to safety practices, including proper use of equipment and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
- Ability to keep supervisor informed of progress, issues, and operational needs.
LICENSE, REGISTRATION, OR CERTIFICATE
- Valid Colorado Driver's License with a safe driving record.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
Physical activities include sitting, standing, walking, pulling, pushing, crouching, squatting, crawling, twisting, kneeling, bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, carrying, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Must be able to hear, see (close, distance, and peripheral vision), and use hands for instruction and equipment handling. Responsible for demonstrating recreational activities and ensuring participant safety. Must be able to manage multiple concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions.WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Exposure to dirt, sand, noise, and occasional stressful situations.WORKERS' COMPENSATION CLASSIFICATION
