Essential Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Tasks Organizes, supervises, promotes, evaluates, coordinates, and develops programs and events Trains, supervises, and coordinates the work of part-time, temporary, contractual, and volunteer personnel Provides ongoing evaluation of activities, programs, and events for staff job performance, effectiveness, community needs, and quality of programs Promotes various art and recreation programs, using various methods including activity guides, web pages, community awareness, and marketing plans Manages a team of staff to achieve department goals, which includes: Maintaining a team atmosphere Developing training expectations for staff to support personal and organizational growth Ensuring excellent communication with internal and external customers Ensures City SPIRIT values are incorporated into the daily culture of the workgroup Provides staff with positive and constructive feedback to create confidence and/or improve job performance Completes effective performance reviews in a timely manner Delegates and creates staff accountability for position duties Guest Service Demonstrates an improvisational ability to handle internal and external conflict situations constructively and diplomatically Responds and handles guest concerns in a timely and positive manner, including comment cards, surveys, phone calls, etc. Keeps an open mind to different ideas, suggestions, and approaches to problem solving Follows the department's guest/host service philosophy Serves as a professional ambassador of the department and the City by maintaining a professional image, exceptional public speaking skills, and a creative and energetic approach Maintains regular and punctual attendance Other Duties and Responsibilities Monitors revenue and expenditures, and makes projections and adjustments as necessary Tracks personnel budget to keep within allotted resources Generates statistical reports Responsible for general record keeping Incumbent is accountable for all duties of this job and other projects and responsibilities may be added at the City's discretion.POSITION REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS/PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses and Certifications Required :
A minimum of one (1) year of experience programming, organizing, supervising, developing, promoting, and implementing recreation programs in either a public sector/special district or in the private industry Supervisory experience High energy and passion for Parks, Recreation & Libraries A valid driver's license and safe driving record throughout employment CPR and standard First Aid and AED Certificate within 90 days of employmentPreferred :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4- year college or university in recreation or a related field Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is constantly performed indoors with occasional outdoor activity to supervise scheduled recreation activities and events. Indoor and outdoor work is performed in high use public recreation facilities, where loud noises and multiple events and activities at one time may cause a distraction. Exposure to periods of high activity and high stress under demanding conditions. This position requires a great deal of communication with City employees, the public and outside agencies. Required Materials and Equipment Personal computer, keyboards, calculators, telephones, mobile devices (e.g., tablets/smartphones), PA systems, copy machines, and other standard office equipment, gym floor covers, hand tools, AED, recreational equipment, gloves and pocket masks.PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
